78' 318 and Mopar Cam??
Hello,
I am building a 318 (1978) for a dirt circle track car. I purchased a Mopar #P4452761 cam. I installed the cam and a new dual timing set (COMP Cams 2103). Please forgive my ignorance, but this is the first time I have tried to degree a cam. ICL of this cam should be 108. First I installed the cam and crank sprockets lined up with the dots. I went thru the process of deegreing and came up with 255 ICL. I then took the crank sprocket off and put it in the advanced position and came up with around 300 ICL. Then pulled the crank sprocket off again and put it in the retard position and came up with 112 ICL. I then purchased a 4 degree cam key and installed it in the advanced position with the crank at retard position and got 125 ICL. I then switched the cam key around to the retard position and got 113 ICL. Seems odd to me that I am retarding it so much. Like I said ICL should be 108. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
