Automatic Transmissions

Id like to know well a 727 manual valve body tranny works for occasional street use. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

what motor is infront of the tranny and how built up is it? what car or truck is it in? A manual valve body is used for racing mostly. You'd probably be better off with an automatic/manula valvebody for street use.

I have used a manual VB in several different street cars with great results.

Thanks for your reply. I have a 63 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 383hp engine. It will be used occasionally on the street and not much racing. Im building the car now. My plan is to probably have the engine built with a stroker kit to 496ci with a 373 sure grip rear end. Using the manual valve body tranny i thought would eliminate the need for kick down linkage. Can you manually downshift when slowing to make a turn. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

Manually downshift ? ... no need to ! ... with a torque-motor and driving it EZ on the street ... you can leave it it third gear unless you come to a full-stop.

You planning on keeping the PB trans ?

I am not planning on keeping the original push button trans I will get a newer type 727 but I am having the push buttons converted to shift the new model transmission.
