Getting ready to drop the 383 back in my Roadrunner, what is best for street tunability, vacum advance or mechanical advance distributor. The motor is 10.5 to 1 compression, 262/268, Lift .475/.494 cam, Edlebrock Performer RPM, Edlebrock Performer RPM cylinder heads, and probably TTI or Hooker headers
use a dizzy with mechanical AND a vacuum advance unit just like the factory.
Running without a vacuum advance on the street is not advized.
Leave the mechanical only dizzy's to the drag race only crowd.

The Mopar Orange box is a joke, it will retard the timing 8* starting at about 4500 and by 5200 RPM it's alldone it will also drop to 16KV output which is barely enough to fire unleaded fuel.
The MP distributor is "Universal Fit" which means it fits nothing in the Universe, it will need to be curved phased and the vacuum can set up for your specific application.
Do some reasearch there's much better stock appearing Mopar Ignition Systems out there, just Google it.
