Heat shield for plug wires
OK, I need some quick advice as I am ordering my items tomorrow (from work!)...
Here's the deal: my 67 Belvedere has horrible headers on her 318, and burned through a set of Jacob's Electronics silicon high temp wires.
I bought a lovely set of Taylor 10.4mm wires and they are also high-temp but I obviously don't want to ruin this set too. So I bought header wrap. Well, Murphy loves me dearly and showed up to help. The headers WILL NOT come out of the engine compartment, and trust me, I've seriously considered a sawzall; the headers are too tight to wrap in place or even loose (I can't even get a finger in between half of the pipes).
I do not want to purchase new headers because I am looking to purchase a 413 for the car, and get that motor together this fall/winter.
After perusing my options on Summit Racing, I think my best option is Taylor's boot protectors. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TAY-2566/
Does anyone have a better suggestion or solution to this issue? I'd love to carve up those headers, but with a potential motor and/or transmission build upcoming, I really don't want to buy new headers and thus change up my exhaust right now too. That would get redone when the new motor is installed.
After not driving this beast for 6 years, I don't want to waste another summer.
Thoughts and comments are REALLY appreciated.

Header wrap isn't that great either, while it does drop the temp in the engine bay alot, they tend to cause the headers to crack at the weld joints. The wrap insulates the header and allows it to cool over a longer period which basically anneals the metal.
