the intake manifold from a 383 wont work on a 440

if you are refering to the stock 440 manifold it will work

If I understand you correctly, you are swapping motors from a 383 with an air grabber intake, to a 440. The concerns I see with this are that the 440 engine is taller, so there may be some issues there in getting it to be the correct height.

hey guys, my buddy ran into this prob. no the 383 air claner will not fit w/ the 440 it will hit the botom of the hood. you can use the lid, but you have to get a base plate for a 440 car,I E. GTX,Coronet r/t. you can get a new repop base plate from year 1 or other reputible supplier. or you may pick 1 up on evil -bay. due to the 440 being a taler deck height as my mopar collegues pointed out, it puts the air cleaner to high.

how about if u have a 440 with a RPM INTAKE the intake sit higher will the 440 base need modifieig to clear hood?

hey guys im new member i put 440 in my 70 super bee with edelbrock RPM will i have to modifie a 440 base to compensate for the higher intake to clear hood?
