Kickdown lever, leakage and play!!!

Hi Guys and Gals!

Been having issues with the kickdown in my 64" Fury, in a nut shell it shifts real late on the hi-way.

Stock linkage and an Edlebrock Carb made me go out and install a Bouchillon Kickdown kit, nice kit easy to install.

While installing I noticed two things which I did not notice before.
1) The kickdown lever on the tranny is leaking.
2) There is no resistance in the Kickdown lever, if you blow on it it will move.

The cars got no insurance so I couldn't take it out to see the new cables and carb linkage worked, but feeling the play in the kickdown lever I got a feeling nothing has changed.

So whats the next step, I have rebuild kit for the tranny, but if it's just the kickdown valve can that be replaced with the tranny still in the car?

Any other possible options?

I would try removing the transmission pan and seeing if the kick-down cam is making contact with the valve in the valve-body. Also I here that is a common place for them to leak.

Oh man!!

I have the same TV cable linkage from my carb to tranny. Minus the leak it works good. I did have to buy an adapter plate and mount it to the Edelbrock carb that sits on the air gap manifold to properly hold the throttle and TV cables. (tranny kickdown)

Do you have the aftermarket mounting plate that holds the throttle and kickdown cables?

Good luck with the leak. Remember Automatics are all about pressure and if it's blowing out of your tranny, it probably won't shift right. (And since I ride a motorcycle, I don't like slick roads... )
