latest update and headache
360 is in the Fury and running very well. Problem I am having now is when running the lights flicker inside and also head lights do that. Car has new alternater and voltage regulator. Battery checks as ok. The more rpm the worse the gauge jumps around. Anyone have a good idea. I have a friend with a 360 upgrade and he did not have this. Thanx Frank

Is this in the 68, and if so, did you go to electronic ignition, I changed to the solid state blue box voltage regulator and it boiled my battery so I went back to the old black box voltage regulator and have had now problem, see if that helps

I have a totally bone stock and original '68 Fury III/383.
The charging system worked great then, a bearing went bad in the original alternator and I bought an alternator from Kragen Auto Supply.
My gauge is now doing the same thing as yours and didn't before the alternator change.
So, I am figuring that my alternator and voltage regulator are not matched or something. I went to the local speed shop asked about a voltage regulator for my Fury, they looked in the books and their question was: "Is it a 45amp or 60amp alternator?"
I told them that I didn't know.
So, I think that I either had a 45amp alternator, inadvertently put a 60amp alternator on the car or vice versa and the voltage regulator is not matched to whatever I have.
Like I said.... the charging system worked perfect before the alternator change. I saved the original alternator and am going to have it rebuilt to its original specifications in hopes that my theory is correct.

i have a 60 amp alternator as that is what all parts stores are carrying. The old one was shot and is gone. I have an electronic voltage reg coming and hopefully that cures it. The first replacement alternator was also defective so this problem is frustrating us. Hope the new one cures it.

So, I'll see if I can get them both up there and I'll let you know if this works.
Keep me posted if you figure this out! Thanks, Rick
