Need a little help.My soninlaw is changing the rod bearings in his 2002 intrepid 3.5 engine,He is haveing a real hard time getting the main bearing caps off to check them.any ideal why this is happening .I live about 3 hours away from them so im hopeing for some info .I cant just pop over there and help him .

Can he just not get them off after taking the bolt out or can he not get the bolts out at all?

 

Yes the bolts are out but he cant get the caps off.dont know whats going on ,but im to far away to help him.

I would think that a whack with a dead blow hammer or a piece of wood should do it. But put the bolts back in loosely so the cap doesn't go flying! And DO NOT FORGET TO MARK THEM TO PUT BACK IN THE SAME PLACE!
