Have someone hold the the selector in low pull the cable until it bottoms on the low detent. Rotate the adjuster clockwise until it touches the case, then counter to first available hole. Turn counter 5 holes and insert lock screw.

nope still same issues. any other ideas? should i pull the pan again and then adjust the cable while its open?
maybe this has no bearing but i did install a deep pan and filter spacer.
could this be the issue?

well thanks for the help! after i made the adjustment to the shifter cable ( thanks coronet) i decided to try and adjust the shift linkage and wammo shifts better now than ever before. the only thing i can think is that with the tranny leaking from almost all possible spots the shift linkage was set " OK " but after i sealed it up and adjusted the shift cable it must not have been OK any more. there goes 2 days of thinking i was going to have to buy a tranny few! not to mention the bs from the wife.
