Neon transmission swap

I've got a 2003 neon. 2.0 SOHC with an automatic trans. The trans has been feellin a little tired lately and I was wondering if it would be possilbe to swap it out for the 5-speed version. Other than the obvious mods need to add the third pedal, would everything else pretty much bolt on? Or is this just not possible. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! The physical part is the easy part. The PCM is where the Devil is. The PCM looks for certain inputs from the trans. You are welcome here, but I am SURE there is a dedicated Neon site that could probably give you step-by-step how to do it. Here's one place I just found http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.ph...6927&view=next

You could also swap the PCM for one out of a manual Neon or send yours out to be flashed.

Right on. Thanks guys, that's kinda what I was woried about was all the electrical stuff. The more I'm thinkin about this swap the less it sounds like a one weekend project.

Buddy of mine did a 6 speed swap from an auto in his Camaro.

A few things still don't work correctly. Mostly to do with the electrical. Lots of modifying to do.

It'll take more then 1 weekend.

yeah building a neon was never somthing i saw myself doing. I bought it just to get back and forth to work, untill i blew the timing belt and took out all valves. Once i had the head off i figured what the heck, lets put a cam in it, and lets do this, oh and this too. And im sure you guys know how that goes. once you do one mod its hard to stop.
