Question 69 R/T

Sorry but I got no reactions on my last question so hereby a new post

My Coronet is running 165- 170 now with the new fan and 160 thermostat, is that ok or too low?

In heavy traffic it sometimes risis to almost 180.

Thanks for your reactions!

Jake,

If your car is running 165-170 I'd consider that great! 180 in heavy traffic, you're doing very well!

Great cooling car! BTW, are you running an electric fan or mechanical fan?

The temperature of the engine actually affects the combustion and efficiency of it. I would say that you are running a bit too cool and need to put in a t-stat with a warmer opening point. From what I have read about the 440, the optimal operating temp is 192°. If your low point was 180° and your high was 195°-200°, That would be perfect in my opinion.
