Rear axle problem.

1965 belvedere 8/34 rear end non sure grip. I put a rear disk brake kit on which required the removal of the rear axles. I install everything and now the drivers side rear wheel rotates and the passenger side rotates the opposite direction but it won't turn the drive shaft. Whith the car in park and the drive shaft locked I can still spin the axles. I know it has to be something easy. Thanks for any help you all can give me

Luke

O.o if the car is in park the drive shaft wont spin so yes the opposite tire will spin in the opposite direction. I'm afraid I don't understand what the problem is.

Sounds normal to me.

Everthing is OK for an open differential. Rest easy, and give us a picture of your car.

x2 Normal Schmormal

If you still have the tapered rear bearings, make sure you get the adjustment correct. It's in the shop manual.

Thanks for the help my lack of understanding on how it all work together was making me second guess my work. I went down and did some more checking and it is all working correct.

Thanks again Luke
