Setting rocker/valves on 440
I need to set the valves on 1969 roadrunner 440. I have new mopar aluminum heads,452 casting, cat steel shaft rockers, and lunati hydraulic cam and lifters. I thought I was supposed to tighten the rocker up until I could no longer turn the pushrod with my hand and then give it another 1/2 turn. But an experienced person told me that I was supposed to back off 3/4 of a turn. This has me confused and this is my first mopar build. I'm I supposed to back off or tighten up? thanks for the help in advance

Soak your lifters in oil to make sure you have the lifters are full of oil. You should have instructions for them. assemble the rocker arms and shafts, snugging the attachment bolts from the center out. When the bolts are snug then torque them down too twenty five ft/lbs. starting from the center and working out to the ends. You do not want to warp the shaft. Normally tightening rockers until the pushrod stops turning with your fingers is for rockers that are individually mounted (i.e. Chevy)....hope this helps
