slant 6 build
g'day all . i'm helping a friend build a 225 slant 6 . we got a re build kit from flatlander racing . the plan is a budget performance build & to get his abody aussie 1966 vc valiant 225/ - 904 auto - 3.32 ratio borg warner diff down the track @ hopefully 16's-15's et . the block will be bored .060" with new cast flat tops & rings , all bearings ect . new timing chain & comp cam .440"/.440 lift solid cam & cast crank has been reground -.010 & in good order but unbalanced . now we are thinking of grinding .100 off the block to up the compression . we really want 9.5 - 9.8:1 , we'll also grind the head some also . not sure how much yet . well for the head we got new ss 1.70 in & 1.5 ex valves & springs to suit the cam . i'm doing a bowl & port job on the head . nothing full on but good clean up & then some . where running a std 2bbl cast manifold with 350 holley for now , but he's saving for a aussiespeed hurricane equal lenth runner 4bbl manifold & 500- 550 cfm edelbrock carb ( i think that's what we'll use as it's a street car mor than strip car ) . it'll have some cheap headers & 2" exhaust till he can get a 2.5 in exhaust then better headers . hopefully i can find a windage tray also . he's just running a std convertor & 904 for now . ( we'll have to see how that goes & take it from there . we don't know what to do about a ignition atm . ( he's got stuff all ) & chrysler stopped using slants over here in 69 . & our aussie hemi 6 ignition won't fit . so if anybody can give us any tips or advice that would be great & if there's a electronic dizzy over there that you guys use or have a spare one he'll buy one . thanks guys . dead.
