small blocks

ok here's something someone told me and I need to know the difference. I am looking for a 318 long block and the guy I found has one but he asked me if it was for a auto or standard trans. He said the blocks are diff. is this true?? he said the one I need for a standard trans has a extra hole in it. I have never heard of this before but wanted to ask because I am new to mopars

Some CRANKSHAFTS do not have the pilot shaft recess deep enough or "finish machined." We used to buy "undersize" pilot bushings, and sometimes used to cut about 3/8 or so off the pilot shaft because the hole was too shallow.

Now, I've forgotton the exact application, is a more modern bearing that fits out "in front" in the large recess for the converter. So now, the only issue is whether the hole it deep enough. This is east enough to check, just throw the bell on there and measure

Why would that be hard to believe?

People swap from auto to manuals all the time..

Ah. I misunderstood what you said. I thought you were saying you found it hard to believe that it'd be the same block. I was like "uh...".
