Torqueflight trans w/ shift kit ?

Ive been blowing up the forum with questions here lately but really its just me trying to figure out whats best for the car, I apologize. The car has a torqueflight tranny with a genie shift kit in it. So the car only stays in 3rd if left in the upper gears and does not run through the gears like a regular auto would. So is it best to shift up through the gears or is it best to just leave it up in 3? The car has plenty of grunt to go from 3rd it doesnt struggle at all however I know with a typical automatic running the car in a low gear limits the flow of fluid through the system. I really dont wanna hurt it and just would like to know.

Either you have a manual valve body in the trans (they usually have a reverse shift pattern: P R N 1 2 3 instead of P R N 3 2 1) or something is wrong with the shifting servos/bands. First would be to figure out which/why.

With a manual valve body, you have to "shift" it. Yes, you can "grunt" it from third, but generally not a great idea.

Cool thank you, the tranny was just done about 2000 miles ago I have the receipts from it im almost sure nothings wrong with it as when I go up through the gears it shifts nicely.
