Turbo Charging info
I'm new to the site and just registered today. I have a few Mopars and am looking to see if anyone has had any experience or knowledge with fitting
either a single or twin turbo system to a 340 or 360. I am looking to first see if I can fit it into one of my Dusters with a small block and maybe later
into one of my Cudas or GTX.
Thanks, hope to hear from someone.
Regards, Jon (CudasR#1).

Thanks Polaradude. Also love the old Dodge Brothers emblem. My Dad was a real big Mopar collector from 25 Maxwell, 27 Imperial thru 1962, including about 15 Airflows.
I appreciate your help.

turbos take a good second to kick in at the start, wright?
to get a good start are you able to get the RPMs up eough at a stand still to get full use of a turbo off the start?

This is not the place for turbo info. Just google turbos or try out the import forums like supraforums.com, hybridz.com, or 240sxforum.com they all have great info on turbos.
But.... most BBC have a CR that is great for any forced induction nad most have the bottom end to soppurt them as long as you don't go over board. You'll at least need a SAFC that is boost referenced and a MUCH larger fuel pump then stock. The rest of it is a given, IC piping, ex manifolds, larger carb, top hat, BOV. The best on the cheap (as in inexspensive, not crap) turbos will be Holsets, with a 360 look at a HY40 or 45. I wouldn't go over 7-8psi unless I built my motor for it.
Thats a start for a quick and dirty setup and a place to start. Even a donkey can make power with a turbo, just don't get too stupid.

turbos
thanks for the info i will check out some other things too. ok so theres prochargers, superchargers, turbos, and what els would give my car some pickup and go?
if i went with a supercharger , would i need to replace my fuel pump to get more fuel in the engine?

All forms of forced induction will have the same type of fuels needs. No form of forced induction will give you get up in go on the street, the turbo/supercharger needs the engine to create boost. They will run out of air quickly if setup up to spool instantly. Now if your some ME wiz then you can run a twin setup up of 2 different sizes and sort it out, virgins should go tried and true.
The first setup I layed out is by FAR the cheapest, can be done for less then $1000. Prochargers (centrifugal super chargers, think turbo that belt driven) are by far the MOST expensive. Roots type (blowers) are in the middle but still much more then what I laid out earlier. They all get you to the same place

prochargers
i have been looking at a few prochargers and some mopar guy say to go procharger. the procharger i have been looking at are the f-1 and i think the.... f2R or somthing like that but i dont know which one will be the best for my car. im going for that quick 1/4 and i dont want to stop putting money into the car until i get my front wheels off the ground.
so, which procharger do you think would be great for my 72 dodge charger SE 440?

If you lots and lots of go with the bigger one. Thwte is alot to consider, its not as simple as which one for yoyr enigine, ypu have to have ypur whole setup working if you wanr the mosy out of it.
I'd still go with a turbo or twin turbo setup though, it's gonna be a fraction of the cost.... Or a stroked 440 to 500+ throw some TT on that and you'll be making 1000+
Don't forget the golden rule:
Fast
Cheap
Reliable
Pick 2.

HP in a bottle :)
true I could go with a bottle and ya, that is one thing I forgot about myself haha. oh ya have you checked out the EZ-EFI from www.fuelairspark.com . with pushing more air I think I would need something to push more fuel too wright? instead of just the normal carb. please let me know what you think about this.
im deployed at the moment so I have money to burn and my car is in a shop getting it ready for racing so im just throwing things there way as I go.
ok, well thx again Iskone!

Ive mentioned this a few times on this site, but check out mega-squirt efi. It is a stand alone processor that you use off-the-shelf fi parts to convert your car to fuel injection.

turbo cams i believe are totally different from the regular cams that we use
also, if you are going to turbo, supercharge, or put the bottle on your motor, I would strongly reccommend pulling the motor and making sure you have all heavy duty parts.
