VIN issues, please help.
I went out to my boneyard today, checking all the Mopars for a donor motor for the 71 Duster I just picked up. ok , one VIN came out as expected. 68 belvedere 318 blah blah. Heres where it gets screwy.....
I have an old 77 cordoba my brother bought at a local used car place years ago. He never paid it off, so I have no title. I know its a 360, but the VIN said it was an unknown model, unknown cost level. but it says its a 426 hemi out of a 67 car. The VIN in the door jam says the same thing...... Im stumped.
The last is maybe something you all can help me out with. Its a 72 Diplomat police car. The VIN in 16 charicters long, and doesnt come up to anything.... is there something im missing? and how do I decode it? Ive been all over the internet, and nothing gives me any clue wtf it is....
I believe the VIN is
IB3BG26S9GX608403
A possible alternative is
1B3BG2659GX608403
SO, WTH is going on here? tahnks for any help.

in all honesty the 77 cordoba sounds like the vins were switched for some reason or another, this is probably pointing out the obvious but some one has to i guess.. as for the diplomat (bad *** cars if i say so my self) i found a couple of sites that may help you out.. they're a little different and im not sure why but it still may help

Model Year : 1986
Safety System : manual seat belt
Body : Body not in database!
Series : Low
Style : 4-Door Sedan
Engine : Engine not in database!

oops
UHHHH, yeah about that......... made a phone call...... 86 Diplomat......thats what I said before right???? Kinda interested in why it doesnt state the motor. but Im figuring a 318. Sorry for the confusion on that one, been a long week. But as for the cordoba, yeah someone has swapped out the VIN's no doubt. Seems odd from a car dealer, I can see if it was bought off a private party but......shady is shady I suppose.
