in my 67 new yorker with a 440 , the 2 heater fittings on the firewall (my car is left hand drive , in NZ most are right hand) does the fitting closest to the drivers side go to the fitting closest to the engine or radiator on the water pump housing?

 

Do you have a heater valve to the left and the heater core connections with a jumper hose to the right?

 

in this picture, it looks like the left one off the pump goes to the top one in the firewall.
