Jeg Coughlin is one of just a handful of drivers to have won NHRA national event Wallys in five different classes, and will set his eye on an unprecedented sixth such trophy when he unveils his new Dodge Challenger “package car” Stocker in Pomona. Coughlin also will continue to run his JEGS Cobalt in Pro Stiock, where he'll be seeking to regain the championship he turned over this season.
The car, shown here in its early stages at Custom Motorsports Painting in Mansfield, Ohio – the longtime painter of JEGS team machines – getting the traditional yellow and black appliced, should be ready for testing in Las Vegas in January during the annual pro Stock event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and then make its debut at the 50th annual Kragen O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals in Pomona.
“I’ve never won a national event in Stock, and that’s definitely something I’d like to do in my career,” said Coughlin. “I drove Steve Cohen’s Stocker in 2006, and I’ve raced my Chevy II station wagon a few times, but I haven’t raced on the bottom bulb much in the last couple of years. It should be quite a challenge, but I’m extremely excited about it.”
The five-time world champion, who has won NHRA event titles in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, Super Gas, and Top Dragster, has long stated his desire to win in Stock, and he is apparently getting serious about it, with the assistance of engine builder Jeff Taylor and fuel-injection specialist John Meany.
Coughlin’s car is one of more than two dozen Dodge Challengers expected to compete in Stock next season.

Talk on the street is that he placed his order shortly after they had him do a test session in one of the first "mule cars". I saw the video somewhere on the web but can't remember where... It was at Miliam Mi track. He was VERY impressed with the potential of this car... I know he will still be in the Chebby PS car but it will be great to have him in a Mopar in Stock.... IMO this is great for stock and Mopar.... I have to give him credit.... This past year he won several PS races and was not the fastest car. He was winning on "Holeshots" and the other lane making a mistake.. And tht is where he shines.... Mistakes are not a part of his game... Thus he wins and is a winner in my book no matter what car he drives!!!!!
