1994 Ford F-150

I have a 1994 Ford F-150 XLT, 2WD, 5.0FL, extended cab, dual tank...

Fuel pump went out on middle tank. Got the middle tank dropped because I couldn't remove the bed due to the 6 bolts rusted up plus the toggle switch wire running along it. Anyways....

Fuel tank dropped, got one fuel line off, couldn't get blue one off, so thought whatever. I figured I would just remove the fuel pump unit and slide the tank away from it. Okay, so due to the fuel pump retaining/lock ring is rusted.... I ended up sheering off a tab and only have 3 left. So, I PB Blasted the crap out of it and nearly damaged 2 more tabs, it will not budge.

So.... Any ideas for getting that unit out with no special tools and no money?

Or will I need to just assemble everything, mount the tank back up and save up $500 to have a professional do it?

I can drive the truck by running my back tank, but... the fuel moves to the middle tank and then I run out of gas and gas dumps on the ground because of there being too much fuel in the middle tank. If I could completely bypass that middle tank so fuel doesn't go into it from my back tank, that would be awesome too. Least, it will by me time to use the truck for work and save up.

Any advice (besides get rid of the truck -- I like my truck so....) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You do realize this is not a Ford forum but a mopar forum, that's Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler products?

My Ford mechanic son says keep doing what you’re doing or bend tab up and bend ring in or hit ring down to collapse and put out of round. If a tank is so bad threads for ring are corroded then tank replacement is warranted.

It's just odd that your first post was a question about a Ford.
