currently I have a 72 duster with 3.91 gears and a 4 speed and a 5.9L magnum swapped into it. the motor is freshened up with a mopar 460 lift cam (not all that big)and KB hyperutectic pistons, the car runs well but not impressing me any more. I may have found my solution though and thus my question.. I picked up a "running" 340, and I was thinking about going over it a bit, maybe some head work and installing this .508 cam I've had laying around.

think ill notice any difference with the 340? also any input on what to do to the motor, heads, or thoughts on this mopar .508 cam

 

or possibly do a set of heads and a bigger cam on the 5.9??

I like the idea of working the Magnum. PK1 here has shared some head mods using less expensive GM valve and spring parts.

Better, modified Magnum heads with bigger modern camshaft, matched manifold and carb will out power the 340 for sure. If you decide to dig into the short block, don't forget about some oiling improvements. You could get 400-450 hp and still have a street friendly 360 engine.
