383 to 440

This should be one of the easiest swaps. The things which will NOT interchange from your 383 is the intake manifold, distributor, valve pushrods and of course crank, etc.
Pretty much the rest should be a bolt in and go EXCEPT possibly for engine balance. You will have to research this a little, but t he 440 may well be externally balanced, and may have originally had weights on the torque converter (along with it's own front balancer) or if a stick, had a flywheel with cutouts
I'm not familiar with "lately" but for my smallblock, B*M markets special flex plates so (example) you can run a 360 with a 318 torque converter
