383 distributor part number
Hi Guys
Working on a 69 charger with a 383 and a 4pin electronic ignition that's giving a weak spark. I'd like to convert it to a pertronix ignition but there aren't any numbers on the dizzy. Anyone can tell me what part number it would be?

Worked on it some more today.
I finally got a nice hot spark on the secondary coil wire by cleaning the earth connections and adding a ground wire to the engine.
No the problem is that on the spark wires I still get a weak spark. Using a new, copper core wire the spark is real good.
What's a good wire set for these?
Also the coil heats up as someone removed the ballast resistor., I assume a modern coil without resistor can be used on this system? Like a pertronix flamethrower?

Are you using resistor or non resistor spark plugs? The stock system is meant to use a ballast resistor so solid core wires may cause lots of ign noise if you have any electronic equipment
Check the resistance of the pickup in the dist 250-300 ohms ? see if there is evidance of melted wax under it..

Pickup looked good, haven't measured it yet. But I assume it's good as I get a nice hot spark on the coil wire.
I only used one solid copper wire to see how it arced.
I think that with a new pertronix flamethrower coil and a wire set the spark should be good. Flamethrower coil has a built in 1,5ohm resistance.
Are there any black wire sets that actually fit without having to cut them to length?
