440 blower question
440 blower question
im tryin to find a blower set-up for my super bee.i see alot of BDS 8-71 on big block chevys for sale at good prices.im wondering what i need to change besides the intake and crank pulley hub to go from chevy to mopar and all hook up properly to my 440.any help from the super charged guys would be greatly appreciated.this is my first blower project.im trying to get together a stroker 440(500) to put it all together.
Sounds like fun!
My best buddy has a BDS 8-71 that we put on a 496 BBC.
I have attached a couple of pictures of the set up and also attached a picture of a 440 with a blower, for comparison.
I hope that I'm not out of line posting the Chebby pics! But, 901 hp in a V-Drive is a lot of fun!

I was looking into a 671 blower for my 440 also. I emailed the fellas over at Dyers. They said I would be able to run a blower mod with full stock components, but, run only at 4psi boost. For a gain of 25% hp... Not bad! If I put in a set of forged pistons, I would be in the 600hp with 7psi boost.
That's pretty bad *** for a street ride. But I already freshened up the block for a stock motor.
I imagine running a blower takes up a bit of power to spin the rotors. But no different than running an ac compressor? So I imagine overheating couldn't be too big an issue... Or just a bigger rad.
But an expert I am not.
