440 rear main seal, finally not leaking
Having trouble getting the rear main to seal ? Well after no less than 5 try's including one rope seal we have finally had success, How you might ask ? By using the Mancini racing MRE 223 billet seal retainer priced at 69.95 and Mancini Viton rear main seal MRE 9440 priced at 34.95. Not saying other products won't work but we have tried several with no success. Also offset the seal ends so they were not in line with where the retainer and block meet, had done that as well with other products so don't know if that in itself makes a difference or not. Any way this is what worked for us.

That is very interesting to me, because I have a relatively large leak on a 440. I have heard that it is possible to do this repair while the engine and transmission is still on the car, by removing the oil pan. Is this how you did it?
Thanks

Yes we did it in the car, you will need to remove the center steering link and then you can drop the pan and do the repair. The front pan bolts can be a little bit of a pain to reinstall but if you work from in front of the k member you can get them in.
