Cracked Ear

Major F-up. Just finished building 500 stroker for my 1970 Coronet R/T and I cracked the passanger side rear mounting lobe on the block. I had the crack welded, but I don't trust it and would like any suggestions on alternate mounting points and any pics would be great. I dont want a mounting plate or elaphant ears. I'd prefer to run a rod with a bushing from somewhere else on the block. I never saw this done, but if anyone out there has, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks

DId you break the locating dowel off ? or just the end ? If a proper weld was done it should be fine, Not sure on the 440's it's been many years since I worked on one, If they are like the LA motors there is a reinforcement From the side of the block to the trans. should be sufficient

The pasenger rear ear on the block. There are 3 that the motor mount bolts to. 2 on the top and 1 on the bottom front. Someone arc welded the crack, but I don't trust the weld. It will probably be fine, but I hate building a stronger motor and then having weaker mounts, so I'm looking for an overkill solution so I don't have to worry about it..

Slice, since it's the right side,I wouldn't worry about it. The left side mount takes all the abuse.

I'm getting an overwhelming response not to worry about it, but I may throw a strap on ( a torque strap that is) on both sides anyway.

Slice,The torque straps are nice, got one on my cuda.I would also get a polyurethane transmission mount,it keeps the tranny from twisting too much.
