engine balancing
Right now I have a 340 in my car. I want to swap out for a 440. now...
the crank in the 440 right now is for an automatic. I have a crank for a 4 speed. can I just clean it out have it resurfaced and install it in the 440.
they were telling me I need to take pistons everything out take it to a machine shop and have it balanced. don't really know the process.
just trying to see what you guys did if any of you did a swap like mine.

years ago i built 360 for my 1982 250 HD and had it balanced. if i reved it 2500 rpm. it was so smooth it was like it wasnt even there. most engines will have some small vibration. i think its worth it.

It completely depends on the type of pistons and rods your 440 has in it now, the crank HAS got to be balanced to their respective weights! When you start blending unknown part's you must rebalance the rotating assembly.
