Engine Knocks

Engine Knocks

My 440 is knocking when i give it lots of gas going up hill


is this a timing issue that can be corrected by adjusting my well timing or is my carb not tuned correctly

i do have possible symptom
when i start the engine cold i hear a pop coming from my exhaust kind of like a backfire... goes away after the start up.

If it sounds like your engine is full of marbles it pre-ignition cause by either low octain fuel or to much advance.

Pretty much sounds like a timing issue, like Don said, probably too much advance.
