Horsepower questions

OK guys/gals, I have a few questions. I jsut finished building and dynoing two 440's, here are the specs:
Orage Motor:
KB Quench pistons approx 10.5/1 .30 over
factory rods/steel crank
906 Heads - no porting, slight mill
Crane Cam
M1 with Proform 750 DP
Internal race balance
Factory stamped rockers

Blue Motor:
Ross 10/1 .40 over
H Beam rods/Steel crank
Edelbrock performer heads - no work
Hughes Roller Cam / .517
440 Source roller rockers 1.5
M1 with Proform 750 DP
Internal race balance

OK, the Orange motor put out 425 HP and 478 TQ. Blue motor put out 460 HP and 508 TQ. Guess I was a bit disappointed, I would have thought the Blue motor would have pulled much more. I know I can do a bit more to get the HP up for the blue, bit the point is the orange motor is a good contender and was a budget build where as the Blue one had a bit more high end parts and only passed 35 more ponies. Any thoughts

Without knowing all the specs, at a glance I'd say it's the camshaft holding back the blue one.

Edelbrock heads. Two thumbs up.
I would think a bit more compression with a roller cam.
Try a one inch space under the carb. It's sometimes surprising what that will do.

Coronet,
I have. I am thinking hard right now on Harland-Sharps or T&D's, since T&D is right down the road from me. Also, I have a dual quad which I am putting on with two Carters. The M1 was just for the Dyno since I did not plan on tuning or actually putting as much time in as I had. The Blue one is going into my 68 GTX with a 4 speed and 3:55's. Figure I will need to tune it all in/on the car. Don't think the two fours will increase power, thinking it may take a bit away, but chicks will dig it.
I also have the top half off tonight and I am going to double check the degree/timing. Altitude is a PITA, approx 5,000 here, so reading up on what is the better stratagie. Really would of thought the Edlebrock's would have been a bonus, but I feeling they are like putting a pig on Jenny Craig, may be lighter, but they are still pigs

Open to thoughts - but yes, 1.6 are in the future.
