Idling problem
Idling problem
Ok, so I just installed a new edelbrock AVS 650 cfm carb on the 383 magnum in my 70' Chrysler....she runs great....plenty of torque, it's all good...BUT (and this is the annoying part) at looooong red lights the idle will become somewhat choppy as if a cylinder is dead...then step on the gas....the RPMs come back up and its smooth as ice. Trying to whittle down the list of possible causes here, any ideas?

Anything.
Is the A/F mixture correct?
Could the fuel filter be clogged? (not likely if you're good at higher RPMs)
Could you have a vacuum leak (anywhere). (My money is on this one.)
Is the curb idle high enough?
Could there a problem with the idle circuit (within the carb).

Vacuum leak, hmmm...guess I'll look for the obvious first...maybe that's it.
