Jeep ZJ 318 destined for a '49 Plymouth
Looking for advice. How much of the 1998 Grand Cherokee engine bay to I have to take with the 318 to transfer it to a '49 Plymouth? Seems to be an 'all or nothing' choice.
'All' means retain the MPI, ECU, full engine harness various sensors and everything else that is connected by wire or vacuum line. Maybe even the ODB II plug under the dash! 'Nothing' implies leave the MPI manifold, ECU, and all the rest behind and replace with an carb intended manifold and carb or EFI.
Is there a happy medium? A way to keep the MPI and ECU, but minimize all the rest. I'd like to keep the old Plymouth near rat rod and with a modest price tag, but have it drivable and more or less dependable. A step-by-step recipe for success?
