Lets Talk 440 EFI
Ok so I spent some time looking up EFI systems for hot rods but there is only one that I found with a BB 440 and that was the editor of hot rod mag putting EZ EFI 2.0 on his charger. My wife and I want to take our car back to the street but would like to make some 10sec passes with out tuning all the time. there's a tun of this info for ford and Chevy engines but not so much Mopar.
Hope we all can get some good info in one spot for the 440 peeps
#1. Do you or a friend run EFI on a 440?
#2. Does it require a lop top or does it have its own hand held unit?
#3. Does it excel on the Street / Strip over carb.
#4. Horse power limit of the unit you use or how much power the unit you use is making.
#5. If you don't know the hp fastest pass time speed.
#6. Any issues with the tuning of what you use?

Other than TBI units, I don't think anyone makes a plug and play multiport. I ended up going Holley HP because it is so versatile. I had an older Holley Commander 950 TBI, and upgraded the computer and harness to the Holley HP. It has a self learn function, and can be programmed with either the Holley "display" a laptop or a tablet, but the tablet MUST be Windows based, NOT Android.
The "self learn" in fact is the main reason I went from the 950 to the HP. the HP computer is the same ECU used in several of the Holley systems except Dominator, which uses the more advanced ECU
I forget what it's called, Predator? Holley also makes a version of this with a 4BBL TBI which "mimicks" a 4bbl carb in appearance.
Mine works good CONSIDERING
It does require a tiny bit of fuss at very cold startup. Very minor. But THINK about it.......OEM systems had years and years and millions of dollars of development time........mine has "none." In a couple of weeks I took a "dumb" ECU, dumped a sample map into it, and had a running car. A few tweeks were to be expected, no?
The startup, throttle response, LACK OF VAPOR LOCK is way WAY better than a carb system.

Ok 30 views and nothing. man. So one of the things I got from the hot rod mag guy was that the install of EZ-EFI 2.0 looked super easy and it looked like it was learning real quick to get the car to a good idle. I didn't see any 1/4 mile passes or info on the before and after. It seems that its the only one that can go from race fuel, pump gas, and e85. with hp limits of 1100hp fuel 800 e85. But it looks like it doesn't like engines that are 9" of vac or less so I don't know if our car would run well with this set up. any one want to tell what you run and hp you get from it? I'm doing the guessing game from what I read.
also it looked like megs squirt had the ability to program your fuel map to like every 100rpm or less even but I think I would get lost in the tuning black hole if I went that way. Thoughts?

I was writing at the same time ha ha. So is the holy return less? I was wondering if it would help with the hot starts on the heat soaked engine. What about power range of the car or pass time? did the operating temp change? I'm so full of questions because we want to do the switch and I'm reading Performance Fuel Injection Systems from HPbooks.
my brain hurts.
my brain hurts.
I really Don't have any thing to add to the topic....
But I would love to see a follow threw on a good "How Too EFI"
A few guys have done the Jensen cars with some happy results. I think there using the Mega Squirt Software for the full tuning ability's.
I'm with 440, I like the more simple systems like AME, Holley, ETC.
But I don't have a lot of convertion info. I know the guys at Arrington are doing some ECU programming for the late model mopars, But I'm to cheep to jump in that crowd....lol
