Milodon dual line oil system problem
1 Attachment(s)
Hi!
I have milodon dual line oil system in my RB wedge. As you can see from this pic; shorter oil line(which leaves back of the pump) is in front of motor mount. Can I just put AN12plug in that output and use only one line? Or what..? |
I think two is for higher RPM cars. I'd check their catalog or instructions to be sure.

i think that system has two suction lines. to get more oil to the pump, at high RPM. and running thicker oil is a factor. oil pumps weakest thing is the suction lines. I.E. a pump doesnt pull as good as it pushes. if the inlet to the pump will still get enough oil with one inlet, you might get by with one inlet. if your RPM is a little lower than a race engine, and thiner oil, you should get by with one inlet. my guess is the fitting going into the pump housing is an"O"-Ring boss. an good hydraulic shop should have a plug for the pump housing

I know that dual line system is recommended for 7500rpm and over, but my engine will not never see more than about 6500rpm.
One AN12 line will be ok, but is there any technical reason why I should not plug another oil line? I'm from Finland and my english is not very good, but I hope you understand what Im meaning :) |
A technical reason would be if you had more bearing clearance like in a race motor. There would be a larger volume coming out of the bearings and this would help to cool them as well.

Edit: I've run this same engine before with milodon's 1-line oil system and it works with no problems. Main clearance is .003". But that 1-line system went to one of my other engine and I bought this used 2-line for this 499ci. |
I'm pretty sure the single line cover is the same but comes with the extra port plugged. I'll look tomorrow if I remember.

I'm sure you could cap that side.... Just be careful of the RPM range... Don't starve it of oil....
