New electric fuel pump

So my mechanical fuel pump finally craped out and I will be replacing it with an electric one and since I am going to be installing it close to the tank I was just going to replace all the fuel line as well but wanted to go to 3/8”. Is it better to use a hard line or will I be ok using a rubber line?

I would do Hard line with as little in the amount of rubber hose. If not you will need to replace the hose later down the road.. I like to do small hoses myself.. Just my 2 cents

All steel for sure, inexpensive, straight forward and more permanent. Only 4-6" of rubber on either end, stay away from heat when you get into engine compartment.

I would NOT use hose unless it is temporary. Use hard line If you are concerned about doing the bends ? Year One/ many other places sells a fuel line come in a 4' circle you have to carefully un curl it.. OR get some 4-6' lengths/ at a parts store with fittings & a coupler and make your own.

I would do a hard line with a custom gas tank with return lines.

Agree with hard line or possibly braided steel.

What's the PSI from the electric pump?
Why not just replace the mechanical?

Thanks for the input, I will get some hard line and bend it myself. It’s going in a 1978 half ton truck that originally came with an in-line 6. There is NO aftermarket anything for it so I have had to do everything the hard way. I’m using an electric pump because I already have it and wanted to save a little money.
Now I just need to find a good suspension set up.
