Oil
383 stroked to a 450 with a 6-71 blower. Hi volume melling oil pump sufficient with a 1/2" pickup tube? Or do I need an external oil pump to go with it? I already have a melling. Also, if I do require additional oiling, what is the setup for an external pump? Do they come electric?

my idea is if your RPM is no more than 1,000 RPM higher than the stock RPM, do some good mods. one is what is called a bottom oiler. it oils the bearings by pushing oil into the bottom of he main in to the bearing. but this may not be for street. as it may limit or stop oil to the rockers. Milodon has some good oil systems. but they may be race only. and hard it fit to a door slammer.

It does not matter what size pan you have if everything else is getting oil your valve train is to. High Rpms has a play in oil pan size. High volume pump has a play.. I run a 8 quart pan because of gears, rpms plus I have my crank on the loose side to turn up faster, I run a high volume pump.
Regardless of all the other crap, gears, loose crank, oil pump.. Your engine will run cooler because more oil is in the pan getting hit by wind going down the road cooling it. Its a win win gamble
