Pertronix ignitor vs ignitor 2

is there any reason why the igniter 1 would work in my car better than the igniter 2. the car was running fine with the original ignitor but I put in the igniter II and now the car is running like crap it is a Chrysler Newport 383 1968. I have the msd 5531 wires on the car it says they are spiral core, I know with the ignitor 2 you cannot use solid core. Also I have the flamethrower 2 coil as well and a jumper wire that eliminates the ballast resistor.

I put the ignitor one in started up and is running good. The only thing is when I step one the gas or flooring it at low rpms it boggs out like it wants to stall other than that no pinging or stalling.

my idea. use a chrysler distributor. the first way to check it is check the coil for OHMS. the second way. get an analog VOM. set it on the lowest AC volt. put the probes in the dist wires. spin the shaft. if the VOM moves any it should be ok. if and you spin it by hand the needle may not move a lot. hint on the ballast resisters. buy 2 good ones and keep them in the glove box. and at the first no start swap one out.
