R5 P7? stroker and turbo?
So earlier today I found out about the r5 p7 NASCAR racing engines getting sold for 8k for a newly built one something I was wondering tho sense Ive got no clue about these engines what are the possibility for stroking these engines for more low end torque and what about the idea of forced induction on these engine as well? I was curious because I thought stuffing one of these engines into a Dodge Dakota would be a kinda project too build one day any idea and info would be great
358 ci aluminum block. I believe the mains are 2.25 and they only take the p7 heads. So you need rpm to build your power. Your DAK isnt that heavy so I would not let the rpm scare you off.
My question would be can you mate a transmission? If Im not mistaken these take a magnesium bell housing for the 4 speed manual. I have no idea if anyone makes an adapter to run our stuff. And I would bet all the accessories and the mount locations are very low on the motor.
If you are a 1/4 mile guy I would look into this as the decreased weight could pay nice dividends. If its a street build it may be cost prohibitive. You can get a stroker kit for a 360 to 408 for 1000 bucks.
Let us know what you find out.
