RB ignition

Hello everyone, I have a 73 Challenger with a 440 dropped in it. I bought it a few months ago, and even though it has good power, it doesn't seem to rev much over 5000 rpm. Since the motor has a Torker 440 and a lumpy cam I thought something had to be out of tune, and I figured I'd check if the mechanical advance was free. When I pulled the cap, I found points and a condensor! WTF!! There's an electronic ignition box on the firewall, I guess the seller switched out the distributor. What brand of electronic ignition systems have good reputations? Any advice on this issue is welcome. Thanks, Rob

Rob -

If you have a Mopar ECU and want to keep it, I'd get the Mopar electronic distributor. Or, you could get a whole new MSD set and look "cool".

Kinda surprised the ECU would even work with a points distributor. Was it actually connected???

There are wires from the harness plugged into the ecu, so I was pretty baffled to find a single set of points under the cap. Time to search e bay for a deal.
