Should I use HEI distributor?
Hi!
I'm rebuilding my 360 V8 from my Plymouth Fury 1974, actually my engine was using their stock ignition coil and mopar distributor (yes, my car has mopar electronic ignition module) but this can be a good oportunity for a upgrade.
I saw that so many people recommend HEI distributor but, could be recommended to use it on a mopar engine?
What about this distributor? http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOPAR-Small-...a1cf1f&vxp=mtr
I think this can be a good candidate for distributor replacement

I'm going to install headers and if is possible I want to remove the catalyst converter, I'm not going to do more modifications to my engine

I'm planning to change the original 2BBL Holley 2245 for a 4BBL carter like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-C...d12880&vxp=mtr with a intake like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-C...d12880&vxp=mtr

Frankly, do what you want
I used to run Mopar factory ECU, but frankly, with the imported Chineseo parts, it's pretty hard to get quality components
I am currently using a Mopar breakerless dist. to trigger an HEI module. Many don't know the difference.
I can't see spending hundreds of bucks on an MSD for a everyday street rig, but it's your money.
What I don't get is, you "can't use" GM parts as if Mopar is the GAUD DAM holy grail, but yet it's OK to use MSD, Mallory, or any other aftermarket thing.

Go ahead and use the HEI if you want. Although this would probably fit better

I know HEI distributor can help with mpg and performance, but will be a big difference compared with the old stock distributor?
Can I use Female socket coils with HEI distributor?

In many cases, the HEI cap is too big and hits the firewall. I know for sure that they will not clear in any A body.
I see you have a later B body. I've never seen one in a 3rd gen b body. Really a moot point in my opinion. A well tuned Mopar setup runs great. Maybe even step up to a Rev-N-Nator ECU ?
