Thermoquad fuel leak

I'm a new member. Been working on my 440 for about 12 years. Had the Holley F.I. system for 10 years and have gone back to Thermoquad for smog reasons in CA. Had the old TQ rebuilt, runs great, but seeps fuel (very little) at the gasket between plastic body and top plate. I had the bowl vent plugged for awhile, but now have it hooked up properly. I tightened screws in top plate and it leaks less, but still puts out a little fuel.

That's not good. The phenolic body or "top plate" may be warped. If double gasketing it doesn't help, you may need a new carb or replacement body. Don't know the phenolic body can be milled flat or not.

Those carbs are great when they work (I loved mine on my old small block), but can be nasty when they don't.

The carb bodys are pretty rugged but can crack if the screws are over tightened. I would take the top off and check for any old gasket. It could be just a bad gasket. They are a great carb. I have several in parts if you need any thing

Thanks for the advice! I'm trying to head out on a camping trip next week and am concerned about getting this taken care of beforehand. Though it is a very small amount of fuel and there is no sign of any making it even to the lower plate, I'm worried about the potential of a fire.

I would be worried about that (possible fire) too. Please correct it before venturing out.

Here's an update on the Thermoquad. Plastic fuel bowl was warped. I taped a piece of 100 grit sandpaper on a flat surface and sanded until it was true. No leaks!
