Vacuum Issue??

Alright I have another problem. My car began to misfire about a week ago. It only happens when the throttle is pushed more than a quarter way in. I've already checked all the spark plugs and the wires are brand new. Now...my heater control valve vacuum line is spliced off of the vacuum advance line. When the heater is turned on it generally runs normal. This is making me think its a vacuum advance issue? How do i check to make sure it is vacuum advance..also could it be the canister on the outside of the distributor?..its a 2 bbl 383 btw

I know that most perf 440's don't need the vac advance, not sure about stock 383's. What is your initial and total timing?

By "backfire" you mean popping back through the carb, and at least partially out the exhaust, and it gets worse the more throttle?

This has nothing to do with vacuum advance.

Most probably a flat cam, valve problem, or low ignition voltage, which can be caused by a number of things, not limited to

Bad primary voltage (the never ending problem of the bulkhead connector and 40 year old wiring)

bad coil

bad points/ condenser

poor connections, at, or bad ground, at, or bad ECU box

bad coil wire, bad cap or rotor

Archer - I wish I could tell you that lol...I had a shop do all of that when they tuned my carb about a year ago..I'll have to check up on it tomorrow

440 - ill have to check some of that..although it can't be the coil, coil wire or cap..that's all new..at least I hope it's not any of them..that wouldn't make me happy
