What cam to use in my 383

Hello Guys,

I've got a 67 Fury III 4dr Sedan. Im putting a 383 in it w/ Eddy performer intake and Eddy 650 carb. I would like to put a cam/lifters in the car that will add a little lope to the idle and increase power but I would rather not have to replace valve springs and such. Im also using the factory torque conv. Pro Comp is telling me that they have nothing but factory replacement without replacing springs. Does anyone know of a cam that might work for me?

If you talk to any cam dealer / manufacturer and they tell you that you can use stock 45 year old springs with a new cam that lopes a 383 you should run away from that vendor!!! Run, run, run......

Your spring take "set" or memory from the day they first heat cycle. And yours a broken in for sure... Use a stock cam profile or swap springs. Swapping springs is easier than bent valve or trying to find the where abouts of a retainer lock...

Good luck with your mods..

Try HUGES Engines HMC2942BL-7 or Comp Cams Thumpr Series 279TH7

WITH SPRINGS...

Thank you... that helps. I think I will order the Thumpr.... They had one that would work with my stock TC and compression.
