What to look for in a 440
 

I own a rolling 73 dart sport and im looking at a 440 with a 727trans on it to put in it . The guy says the 440 only has 27000 original miles on it and its from 71 to 73 came out of a grumman camper and looks complete. It has also been stored in a barn. First get the numbers and letters stamped on the pad to the rt of the distributor, it is possible that it is a 413.

I would still need to know the information on the pad......

Get the combo as cheep as you can. But in the ballpark out this was $800-1000 as long as it turns over and has compression.

Im sorry to be a pain what other info on what pad? Im pretty new to this.

413 or 440

I'm not sure the 413 used a diferant casting after 1966 or not. But the pad will tell you exactly what the bb is.

thermoquad is a 70's motor from a motor home so it is a LOW compression motor..doesn't matter if you are planning to rebuild like 8 1/2 to one compression, and most likely a cast crank..

I say $400 if it turns over, most of it would feed the scrapper.
