I bought a transmission mount from Amazon that matched up with Autozone and O'Reilly's suggestions for replacement but upon closer inspection the one on my transmission has an extended plate for attaching an extra bolt to the engine.

I've seen pics of the old one online but I'm wondering if I can replace the old one with the it's shorter cousin that I've purchased since the shorter version still has a bolt that attaches to the engine just not two like the old one.

Has anyone else dealt successfully with this problem?

 

Boy I haven't worked on one of those in 25 years. 1980 as I remember was the year they changed to the in house 2.2 motor instead of the VW based motor. Make sure which you have.
