3.23 gear

Just purchased a 8.75 rear with 3.23 gear. Is that gear ok for everyday driving?

that is the gears i have in my 81 d150 and they seem to do pretty good. my worn out 318 seems to have no problem occasionally spinning the tires. i am pretty sure a car should have an even easier time getting the tires to spin with the gears. i think i remember my dad saying he had 2.73 gears in his 66 dodge Monaco with 440 and he said they were not too good for light to light racing but out on the highway not even the cops could catch him.

in the late 60s i had a 1965 chrysler 300 L 4,200 lb 413 HP 727 3.23 gear. my dad had a 1967 300 440 727 2.73 gear. at the 1/4 mile drag strip i bet him by .75 sec. my total stock 1965 300 L turned 16.08 sec at 85. MPH
