No, both of my '68 Chargers had kickdown linkage and a friend of mines original '66 Coronet has it too.

Maybe he means 62 when the transmissions were the old cast iron torqueflights. Even the cable shift 904 and 727 have kickdowns.

However he did make a point about them not kicking down which is valid when the valvebody is so gummed up after 40 years of non service. Go figure!
