12 years for the oem setup sounds reasonable. That's what...150K miles? I'd save my money and go stock again.

well no only 120,000 miles. BUT i am MUCH harder on trucks than any one. i am just glad i do have the money to do it. and think a better oil pan is what i need. but it might take a few weeks.

but for low speeds my 4.1 gear does just fine. i drive only in town 30 MPH to 50 MPH. most of my cruse speed is 35-40. when i changed from a 3.55 to a 4.1 my MPG went from 8-9 to 11-12. cause the O.D. comes in at 35 MPH with lite throttle. and holds 1300 RPM at 30 MPH lite throttle.

From all my teachings and sources..... The best fuel mileage is obtained at 60 to 65 MPH With all the manufactures as designed. Period!
For what it's worth...
Not saying you didn't get it...... Just saying..

Ok..... How About a Turbo... Boost it Babe !!!!!!!

i didnt say i was getting the best MPG my TWK can get. its just that 99.999% of my driving is 30-50 MPH. today i found out that the IRS posted my refund to my checking acc. so it might get fixed next week. my trans guy didnt think an aluminum pan is needed. cause i have an O.E.M. cooler.

Ok... I got the fix !!!!!!!!!! I figured it out.... You got better gas mileage before 1965... Rite.... So after that you started getting worse mileage..... I got it.....
You started driving with both feet on both pedals at the same time... You are a 2 footed driver !!!!!!

Lots of rebuild videos on YouTube if you want to try it yourself. You do need access to a press for the Overdrive unit. 42 is the light duty A500 ? NOT a difficult project

just picked up the new trany. the main shift points are the same. and i think the new torque converter slips less. so it might get better MPG. now i need two new tires and front end alinement. then i want a coolant filter,

update it wont shift down to 1 st gear even at 12 MPH. i think ill take it back. it might be the control cable going to the TV. i know where the holder of the cable is. but i dont know how to unclip the cable. i hope my trans guy can show me. iam sure ill want to adjust it some more.

man o man i hope not. i was reading some pics and text.. i might be making it harder than it is. i might try to do it my self. years ago i modded the linkage on a 65 300 L. i changed the lever ratio to move the linkage less than stock. it turned out very good.
