Tranny level

Changed fluid in my 727 tranny. Warmed car up,neurtal posistion says add pint, park posistion says full level. Car is a 69 roarunner 3000 stall convertor 440 engine. With a shift kit also. Should i check in park or nuertral? dont want to overfill it.

Believe the manual says warm, in neutral with the parking break on.

If you're that worried about it, split the difference. No, I'm not kidding.

And... you do have an aux tranny cooler, right?

Yes aux trans cooler. I went ahead and put it in neutral and put to full level. All is good!

The correct level is in NEUTRAL. This is because some circuits of the transmission are not active, and if the converter tries to drain down, it won't fill in park. Check level "with the car level" warm and in neutral.

Starting a new engine with a new tranny is: pour at least a quart directly into the torque convertor. Start the car up in neutral and let it warm up. Check the level in neutral with car warmed up and add fuild as indicated.
