Transmission fluid to use 727

Hello Mopar maniac gearheads. Ok what fluid do I put in my 727 tranny. It had a soft rebuild performed on it 2 years ago. It shifted so smoothly but when I put the car on jack stands to restore the car in 2012, tranny fluid leaked out continueously from the pan gasket front edge. What fluid do I use to fill it back up: Type F, Dexron III, or ATF 4. I've read elsewhere ATF 4 (synthetic) makes the tranny leak. Don't know what's currently in it. It is red in color. It's a 72 Charger, 3 speed on the column. Help!! Thanks

you might re tighten the pan. BUT the small screws go in to aluminum. limit torque to 10 ft lbs. if that does not work put a new gasket in. the gasket makers might have some new gasket that might better than the old ones. ill say to use ATF +4. but my experts here can help me here if i am off. and i found an EXTERNAL filter. use ONLY steel brake lines. copper WILL break off. the factory uses steel for a reason!!!! mopar most use 3/8 dia tube, but some might be 5/16. i think most have the fluid in at the rear left side. here is an EXTERANL filter, i found. have one on my 01 dak. my idea is when you put a new filter in side this one will help from having to do the inside one as often.*
the old auto zone 2210 magenfine filter is no longer available at auto zone. BUT i did find the same thing as JX-160 brand-- ATP. at a real parts house uses 3/8" tube. a JX-150 for 5/16 tube. ONLY use high pressure hose. If you must. SAE J1019 217 psi working. NOT fuel hose for a carb engine.

Type F. It has friction modifiers and will help the trans shift firmer and quicker, but if that is a non-issue Moe's advice is solid.

It probably won't, it's specified for Fords. Works just like B&M Trick Shift for a fraction of the cost.

Mopar automatic transmission fluid for torqueflite

I think type F would be the fluid most mopar people like on old torqueflites.
Once I am doing some work on my old 1976 A-904-LA after a long 15 years garage sleep, I found some quite interesting information on youtube.

Some Chrysler videos from the 70's would recommend to use only Mopar approved DEXRON type fluid and state do not use type F under any circumstances

Now Mopar recommends only ATF+4 for any torqueflite.

I am not a tranny guy but I think much depends on parts in your tranny. In my case all clutches, seals and bands are stock from 1976 so I am using DEXRON II which is available and cheap in my area, I hope it works fine on my old frictions because the tranny was working and shifting just fine before I decided to fix the pan leack, clean up the pan and VB and install a Trango TFSC shift improvement kit, new filter and shaft seals.

I would get the MP performance deep pan and pickup. also the later 518 hard plastic gasket

If the pan flange is warped it will never seal...
